Rime, the upcoming adventure title made by Tequila Works (developers of Deadlight), picked up new publishers after ditching Sony earlier this year. Small publishers Grey Box and Six Foot are jointly publishing the game, and as a result of the deal the developer confirmed that the game is slated for a 2017 release. "From its very first moving reveal, Rime has been a game that has excited and fascinated our team," said Six Foot COO Christian Svensson. "Tequila Works has put an immense amount of passion and creativity into shaping a beautiful and deeply personal universe."
Due to the departure with Sony, there is doubt that Rime will stay as a PS4 exclusive as announced in 2013. A press release sent out noted that gameplay and “platform availability details” would become known by early 2017 with a release later that same year. This may indicate that the game might come to other platforms along with the PS4, but exact details are unknown.
The split between Tequila and Sony was rumored with tensions rising between the staff members. At one point the game was pitched to Microsoft, but it was rejected by the company, a move Phil Spencer later noted as a mistake they’d have to live with.
