Gold Circle Entertainment, the studio behind Pitch Perfect and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, announced a film adaptation of Compulsion Games’ dystopian indie game We Happy Few. Compulsion Games are teaming up with production company dj2 Entertainment on the project.
We Happy Few, which is currently available in Steam Early Access, tells the story of an alternate reality 1960’s where the populace of a small town is controlled by mood altering drugs. The game follows a character that wakes up to the terrible reality of the world around them when they stop taking the mandatory uppers.
Guillaume Provost, head developer at Compulsion Games, stated that it was approached by dj2 with ideas on how to adapt the game while staying true to its essence. The studio also tweeted that we aren’t likely to see the film any time soon until the game's retail launch.
